Adult Education offers a variety of hebrew courses at different levels, as well as a course in Kaballah, introduction to Midrash, and an introduction to Judaism.Baby Boomers
Baby Boomers provides social, educational and religious enrichment to young couples belonging to the synagogue, through a variety of lectures and social events.Finance
The function of the finance committee is to oversee the financial responsibilities of the synagogue including managing the budget and major expenditures of BT-BJ. Finance also oversees the synagogue office.Gimelut Hasidim Machine (Loving Acts Of Kindness)
Members of this committee volunteer to do "loving acts of kindness" for congregants of BT-BJ such as visiting the sick, comforting mourners, making new and current members feel welcome, etc.House & Maintenance
Responsible for the upkeep of our building and grounds. Addresses problems as they develop and plans for current and future needs.Marketing
The marketing committee works with other committees, including public relations and membership, in promoting the synagogue in the community and publicizing newsworthy and noteworthy events.Membership
The membership committee focuses on the goals of soliciting and welcoming new members to our congregation. The committee is the host of our annual "Feel Good Day" held in August.Membership Retention
The membership retention committee addresses members' issues and problems with the goal of resolution and keeping members a part of our congregational family. The committee also focuses on suggestions for improvement in all aspects of congregational life.Men's Club
Men's Club is a service and social organization which reaches out to the BT-BJ members by holding informal meetings designed to encourage participation by all members. Men's Club, through the involvement of a cross-section of the congregants has organized many highly attended fund-raisers. In addition, many interesting guest speakers have been invited to speak at BT-BJ, talking on a variety of topics of interest to all that come. Men's Club also sponsors the BT-BJ softball team. Works with preschool administration in ensuring quality educational and camp programs. Responsible for financial and budgetary operation of preschool.Public Relations
Supervises the synagogue's publications and keeps the membership advised of congregational and Board of Directors activities. This committee also assists the synagogue administration in establishing and maintaining good relations with the community at large.Religious School
The religious school committee addresses a variety of issues including staffing, student issues, school requirements, curriculum, and special events. The F.L.I.P. subcommittee is responsible for family education programs.Ritual
Supervises the synagogue's religious policy. The committee organizes services including "life cycle" events. The committee is responsible for assigning and distributing all honors for the High Holidays.Sisterhood
Sisterhood is a woman's commitment to Judaism, education, and the beautification of the synagogue. Join us - we welcome you.Social Action
Handles a wide range of social concerns, from making sandwiches for the homeless to religious pluralism in Israel to increasing awareness of and participation in various social causes. We work in conjunction with other committees and groups (i.e. school, sisterhood) to plan programs.Ways & Means
Primary responsible for raising funds necessary for BT-BJ's upkeep and programming needs. We are planning to work with our affiliates to coordinate fundraising efforts.Youth
The youth committee plans and organizes activities for school age children and works with the staff to support these activities. It further coordinates and oversees the activities of our youth groups (Halutzim, Kadima, and USY).
