Cantor Benjamin Greenfield – Cantorial Soloist, B’nai Mitzvah Tutor

Cantor Benjamin GreenfieldBenjamin Greenfield, a native of Annapolis, Maryland, with over 10 years of cantorial experience, is currently a Rabbinical student at the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College, where he will be ordained in 2021. He received his Bachelor’s degree in music performance from Baldwin Wallace University in Ohio in 2008. While in Ohio, he served as Cantor Soloist for Shabbat services at Temple B’nai Abraham in Elyria, Ohio, where he collaborated in planning and leading all services and taught in the religious school, and he has continued to serve Temple B’nai Abraham as the High Holiday Cantor since 2005.

In 2009, Cantor Greenfield returned to Maryland and pursued graduate coursework in vocal performance/pedagogy at the Peabody Institute as well as graduate coursework in Judaic Studies at Towson University. He has also served as substitute Cantor and taught religious school at Mishkan Torah in Greenbelt, Maryland, where his father is the cantor. While in Maryland, Benjamin Greenfield maintained an active musical life by performing lead roles in both opera and musical theater and as a soloist in choral repertoire. He conducted the world premiere of “DeProfundis”, a setting of Psalm 130 that he composed in February 2016 at the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Baltimore, MD.
