Join us for our next BTBJ Book Club meeting, Tuesday March 3^rd at 7PM. We will be discussing Alice Hoffman’s, “The World That We Knew,” which was selected as the One Book One Jewish Community selection for 2019-2020. This annual book selection gives thousands of individuals varied opportunities to learn about new Jewish authors; explore Jewish culture, and share the joy of reading with others across the Greater Philadelphia community.

Hoffman’s book is set “in Berlin, at the time when the world changed. Hanni Kohn knows she must send her twelve-year-old daughter away to save her from the Nazi regime. She finds her way to a renowned rabbi, but it’s his daughter, Ettie, who offers hope of salvation when she creates a mystical Jewish creature, a rare and unusual golem, who is sworn to protect Lea. Once Ava is brought to life, she and Lea and Ettie become eternally entwined, their paths fated to cross, their fortunes linked.”
