During the course of this past year we observed that small group weekday Hebrew classes were a success and worked well for some families! Many students looked forward to attending and they ended the year having thoroughly grasped the content. We also heard that many parents would prefer weekday virtual Hebrew options moving forward. So we are taking this opportunity to offer two options for weekday religious school and to pilot a new program of the BTBJ Religious School: BTBJ B’Yachad!
1) Option 1: Virtual Hebrew Class
Students can choose a 45 minute small group virtual Hebrew class. Parents can select options on the registration form for either a Tuesday or Wednesday class. (Please note, this is a choice for the entire year so please consider all after school activities when making your selection. Please be sure to check all days and times that would work for your family).
2) Option 2: BTBJ B’Yachad - pilot program
BTBJ B'Yachad will meet Tuesday afternoons from 4:15-6:15 PM. BTBJ B’Yachad is an opportunity for students in grades Mechina/2nd, Aleph/3rd, Bet/4th and Gimel/5th to come together in a multi-age classroom space. Students will spend 45 minutes in small group Hebrew classes (similar to the virtual Hebrew classes). The rest of the time will be spent in student driven, experiential, project based learning to enrich their Jewish learning, their Jewish identities, and their Jewish lives.
Students in these grades will be given a choice of whether you wish to register your child for BTBJ B’Yachad (Tuesdays, 4:15-6:15PM) OR whether you would like to register for a 45 minute virtual small group Hebrew class that will take place on either Tuesday or Wednesday (4:15-5PM or 5:15-6PM). If you wish to register your child for BTBJ B’Yachad, you will also be asked whether your child’s participation is dependent on whether we are able to provide bussing from the Colonial School District. If we have enough children from any one Colonial School then we may be able to provide bussing at an additional cost.
Selecting your weekday option is not the same as registering your child in BTBJ's religious school.
