EXECUTIVE Director - Julie Atchick

Julie grew up in a loving, traditional Conservative Jewish home where Shabbat and holidays were joyfully celebrated with grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Although she didn’t attend religious school as a child, she begged her parents to enroll her! That early passion for Jewish learning shaped her life—she grew up at Ner Zedek in Northeast Philadelphia, earned her teaching certificate from Gratz College, and completed both her BA and MA in Religion with a minor in Jewish Studies. Julie has dedicated over twenty years to working in Jewish non-profits, a reflection of her deep commitment to the community.
Family is at the heart of everything Julie does. Her son Joshua and his wife Brittany, along with her son Max and his wife Nicole, live nearby and join her at BTBJ for Shabbat, holidays, and events whenever they can. Julie’s family also includes beloved cats and dogs—while she has plenty of pictures of her kids, her phone is definitely filled with pet photos!
When she finds a little free time, Julie loves The New York Times puzzles, especially Spelling Bee. Feel free to stop by and chat about the pangram—but no spoilers, please!
Julie has been part of BTBJ for two years, and her admiration for this community grows every day. She is continually inspired by the incredible volunteerism and the genuine warmth members show toward one another, greeting each other with hugs and smiles. Julie looks forward to welcoming you to BTBJ so you can experience this exceptional community for yourself. Come say hello—she would love to connect and get to know you!
