Beth Tikvah B’nai Jeshurun provides a religious school program for children who are 5 years old through approximately 13 years of age. For our older students, 13-17 years old, we have our Kesher Teens program. We are proud of our warm community of learners, involved parents and our dedicated teaching staff.

Our religious school features small student to teacher ratios, attention to individual needs, Hebrew enrichment opportunities, use of computer technology, and inclusion services.  Rather than a set curriculum, our classes work towards learning goals which focus on building a strong Jewish identity and stress the importance of Jewish literacy. Faculty create lesson plans which are tailored to the needs of their classes with an eye towards meeting learning goals. Our program includes prayer and synagogue skills, Hebrew reading & conversation, Israel studies, bible & Torah, holiday celebrations and an emphasis on experiential learning.

Age appropriate learning opportunities include art projects, dramatic presentations, games, creative writing, social action projects, and varied music programs.

Students become active members of the BTBJ community by leading class services for the congregation and participating in the Kehillah Kids program.

For students with special learning needs we have an inclusion team who help tailor lessons and provide alternative learning environments for all learning needs. Our inclusion team works with our faculty and our students’ families to interpret students’ IEPS and special learning programs to provide the optimum learning environment for all.

We have an active Religious School Parent Support Group which organizes snacks for our students, plans special events to bring the Religious School together and oversees our class parents who support our classrooms.
